DESCRIPTION:World Food Day Observance\n\n\n\n\nThe World Food Day observance is scheduled for Sunday\, October 16th from noon until 6:00 p.m. on the grounds of the UVI Albert A. Sheen Campus\, St. Croix. While admission is free\, attendees are asked to bring a non-perishable food item for the food drive. All items received will be donated to local food banks. World Food Day\, officially celebrated on October 16th but observed worldwide during the month of October\, brings attention to the plight of the hungry and undernourished in the territory and around the world. This year’s World Food Day theme\, selected by the Food & Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations\, is Leave No One Behind: “Better production\, better nutrition\, a better environment and a better life.” \n\n\n\nOn Sunday\, October 16th\, the activities will include a formal opening ceremony\, educational workshops\, a food vendors court\, a farmers market\, demonstrations\, a petting zoo\, entertainment\, a “House of CANs” competition\, and FREE vegetable seedlings. Each year\, three agricultural products are highlighted\, and this year’s selections are banana\, eggplant\, and chicken. We are also having the World Food Day “Super Chef” Demonstration. Come and support young aspiring chefs. \n\n\n\n\nYou don’t want to miss this educational family fun event—WORLD FOOD DAY\, SUNDAY\, OCTOBER 16th. Dr. Usman Adamu\, UVI Dean and Director of Agriculture Programs\, stated that “World Food Day is a time when we assess food production\, distribution\, and nutritional value. We hope that you will join us as we commit to do something to help end world hunger. DESCRIPTION:See You At The Pole (SYATP) is a time of prayer on the fourth Wednesday of September when students meet at their school flagpole before school to lift up their friends\, families\, teachers\, school\, and nation to God. SYATP is student-initiated\, student-organized\, and student-led. \nSYATP began in 1990 as a grass roots movement with ten students praying at their school. DESCRIPTION:The National Day of Prayer is Thursday\, May 6\, and 2021 marks the 70th anniversary of President Truman’s call to prayer for the nation. On that evening\, from 8 – 10 PM\, veteran Christian radio host Wayne Shepherd will host The National Day of Prayer Radio Broadcast\, along with National Day of Prayer president Kathy Branzell. \nLike Samuel summoning “all Israel” before the Lord at Mizpah (1 Samuel 7)\, the organizers of National Day of Prayer ask every listener to join hands and unite the nation before God! The theme for 2021 is Love\, Life\, and Liberty\, stressing the goal of seeking God in prayer for revival and spiritual awakening across the United States. \nThe expected participants include: Sam Brownback\, Tony Evans\, Will Ford\, Matt Lockett\, Ronnie Floyd\, Robby Gallaty\, Jack Graham\, Greg Laurie\, Anne Graham Lotz\, Nan Stevens\, and Shane and Shane\, accompanied by the Prestonwood choir and a gospel choir.
