From Us to You – December 2024

“Finally Christmas!” That’s the name of a song you’ll hear throughout the month here on WIVH. That song, along with many others we play, prepares us for the celebration of Jesus’ first coming to Earth. We celebrate His birthday in much the same way we celebrate family birthdays – with food and even gifts!

The preparation can be fun (and sometimes stressful!) but may we never lose sight of what we are actually celebrating. The Scripture verse from John 3:16 that most of us learned as children serves as a good reminder. You probably started to recite it in your head as soon as you read the passage reference “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son…”

That’s it! That’s why we celebrate! Because that gift brings us salvation, and a reason to look forward to His second coming. Finish that verse with us “…that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” That message is good news worth sharing!

Let’s not let the traditions that have grown up around this celebration keep us from remembering what the celebration is really all about, the opportunity of salvation for a world that desperately needs saving.

As we come closer to His second coming, let His first coming celebration be an opportunity to share the message of salvation with those around us. We are doing it every day here on WIVH through the music and messages this Christmas season.
