From Us to You – March 2026

The Virgin Islands are home to the remnants of many windmills. In fact, the iconic shape is closely associated with the island’s history and culture.

Unfortunately, many of the windmills have succumbed to the elements so common here in the islands. . . the harsh afternoon sun and the rain driven by hurricanes. Because of this, some have transitioned from once proud structures into piles of stone. There’s even a website, stcroixwindmills.org, to document them.

Fortunately, some work is being done to preserve the heritage of these historic structures. The maintenance required to keep these (or any other structure) in good shape is constant! Most fall when a small roof leak is left unpatched, a rotting beam is not replaced, or a crumbling wall is not repaired.

We often recognize this need for upkeep in our physical world, yet we forget to apply it to our souls. Our spiritual lives are much like those windmills—built with a purpose—but subject to the “weathering” of a broken world. Faith is not a “once and done” event; it is a daily stewardship.

In Matthew 7:24, we are reminded to build our lives on the Rock. But even a firm foundation requires us to mend the roof and strengthen the walls. The music and teaching on WIVH serve as your daily “maintenance check,” providing the encouragement needed to stand strong while the world around us falls into disrepair.

Let’s commit to being the windmill that stands—maintained, ready to be used, and full of purpose.
