From Us to You – November 2026
If you are like me, you’re glad when election season is finally over. Politics often seems to bring out the worst in people, but as believers, we are called to be different. Instead of letting politics bring out the worst in us, it should bring out the prayer in us.
Regardless of which candidates won or lost, our response should be the same. First Timothy 2:1–2 instructs “. . . I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions.” There is no qualifier—just the command to pray.
So how should we pray, and what is our focus? We can pray for wisdom, integrity, justice, peace, and protection for our leaders, no matter who is in office. The ultimate purpose is the transformation it brings in us, as verse 2 continues, “. . . that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.”
Now that the votes have been cast, let us pray, and remember that God’s Kingdom is the only thing that is eternal. It is His desire for “. . . all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth” (1 Timothy 2:4). Because of this, WIVH will continue to proclaim that hope and truth until He returns.
Will you share that hope with those around you? Each day there are so many opportunities to do that. Whether standing in line at the grocery store, someone approaches you at work with a struggle, or when the temptation comes to complain about WAPA (again), all of these are opportunities to share the hope that lies within you! (1 Peter 3:15).
Praying with you,
Tim Madeira
