From Us to You – October 2026
As I write this, we are in the midst of a historically quiet hurricane season. Meteorologists tell us that we can thank a powerful El Niño climate pattern and strong wind shear for suppressing the storms thus far. Obviously, we still have another month where storms could brew, but for now, we are grateful to God for the safety and quiet across our islands!
I did find it fascinating to learn that the Saharan Dust we experienced earlier this year actually played a major role in keeping this hurricane season calm. Yes, the very same dust that decreases our air quality and causes a heavy haze in our skies is also what tamps down the storms! It brings to mind Romans 8:28, which reminds us that God uses even the difficult, messy things in our lives “for our good and His glory.” It rarely feels like a blessing when we are right in the thick of it, but when we look back, we can clearly see God’s hand at work.
That’s why it’s so vital for us to recount what God has done—both in our own lives and in the lives of those around us. It’s why the entirety of Scripture is preserved for us: the good, the bad, and the ugly. It stands as a reminder that God can use anything, and that He is actively working even when we don’t see it.
You hear those exact reminders every day on WIVH! Whether it’s the lyrics of Casting Crowns’ “Praise You In This Storm,” or a message from God’s Word on how He makes all things new, these daily cues reshape our perspective. They nudge us to open our eyes to how God is moving in the world—and how He is changing us from the inside out.
Thank you so much for your faithful support of the work God is doing here in the islands through WIVH, your Voice of Hope. We couldn’t broadcast this message of peace without you.
Seeing God at work,
Tim Madeira, WIVH General Manager
